- Applications are Posted - by December 15th
- Priority Application Deadline - January 15th
- Regular Application Deadline - March 1st (or until the programs are filled)
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit applications as early as possible, as Better Future Project will accept a higher percentage of applicants from the earlier application periods. We plan for a range of participants (this year 25-35). While we will not conduct a recruitment push after we hit the lower number on our range, we are able to continue to accept qualified applicants as late as May (though we cannot guarantee that positions will be open at that time).
Step 1: Submit the online application form.
Step 2: Schedule an Interview. If our staff feel that you are a good fit, you will be invited to schedule a telephone interview. If we do not offer an interview, we will provide you with feedback on your application and any suggestions we have for other opportunities that might be available to you.
Step 3: Interview! (Note: after your interview, you may be asked to schedule a second interview with a different staff member before we make a final decision concerning your application).
Step 4: Notification. Usually within a week of your interview, you will be notified of the status of your application (acceptance to the program, wait-list, or non-acceptance).
Step 5: Commit! If you are accepted to a program, we will ask you to make a firm commitment within a few weeks. If you cannot confirm your participation in that timeframe, you may ask to be placed on the wait-list until after the next round of applicants has been processed. If you place yourself on the wait-list, we cannot hold a position for you in the program. Because Climate Summer requires significant advance work with communities and detailed logistical planning, it is important that we know exactly how many riders we will be supporting. We anticipate 18-24 riders in the 2015 cohort.
Step 6: Welcome! Once you confirm your participation in the program, you will receive a Welcome Packet (with the 2015 Packing List and Gear Guide and other materials to help you prepare).
Step 7: Prepare! Time to gather your gear, get on your bike (or the indoor bike, depending on your location and the severity of the winter), and get ready for a transformative summer. We will connect you with past riders and with others who plan to ride in 2015, schedule regular check-ins with you, and send more resources your way.
